Phil Johnson presents**Up in the Mountains its Lonesome all the Time**

"Up in the mountains its lonesome all the time
there's a sof' wind slewin' thru' the sweet potato vine"

With these words of American poet Stephen Vincent Benet, listeners are drawn into the tale of one young person's determination to achieve his potential and realize his dream of winning "the first prize contest in the Georgia fiddler's show" only to discover in the end that being truly humble in both victory and defeat is the best reward.

Come gather all around me and a story I will tell

"Up in the Mountains Its Lonesome All the Time" is a theatrical retelling of Stephen Vincent Benet's classic poem "The Mountain Whipporwill". Performing on Appalchian fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, jaw-harp and vocals, Phil Johnson weaves the magic of mountain music and dance, storytelling, theater, poetry and literature into a compelling and satisfying, interactive experience for young audiences.
